Rachel Zoe has begged women to embrace flat sandals.
The stylist-and-designer insists Birkenstocks and other low-heeled footwear are going to be huge in Spring/Summer 14 and even featured some in her line.
Rachel is renowned for wearing towering platforms with her flared jeans but insists she’ll be moving away from them in the future.
“Yeah, you can! You should do it!” she told elle.com, when asked if everyday women can wear such pieces and still look good.
“You absolutely should. Especially when they’re metallic gold like these. And you can do it with a long hem. You don’t always need a heel.”
The stylist has another few rules which she is seemingly thinking twice about. She has previously always slammed the colour pink as a hue she would never don, but that seems to be changing.
“I love blush, and there’s some of that in this collection. But really, that’s not pink; that’s blush. It’s a totally different animal. I still don’t think I’m ever going to embrace a hot pink in my wardrobe, ever,” she laughed.
Rachel’s collection was presented at the recent New York Fashion Week and featured sequins, denim, slim-fitting trousers and flowing dresses. Although there were many looks, she managed to tie them together and create a line that was well rounded.
“It’s because I’m combining elements of that modern girl and where she’s going,” she explained. “She’s on the run, and she has a real confidence about her but she’s not a show-off. So there’s some safari, there’s some romantic and girly elements, and, of course, there’s some sexy rock ‘n’ roll in the looks, too.”
