Simon Cowell’s girlfriend is reportedly “upset” by his ex’s words.
Lauren Silverman is currently pregnant with the music mogul’s first child. Simon’s former partner Sinitta recently confessed she felt “betrayed” by the pair’s good news as he was against having children during their relationship in the ‘80s.
While Simon has supported the mother-to-be she is said to feel hurt by Sinitta’s comments and is worried about how close her boyfriend remains with his old flames, also including Terri Seymour, Mezhgan Hussainy and Jackie St. Clair.
“Lauren was really upset by Sinitta’s words. After reading the interview she said it was ‘extremely hurtful’ to take while she’s pregnant with Simon’s baby,” an insider told British magazine Closer. “She must feel vulnerable having Simon’s exes so close by – and she needs him to concentrate on her. She wants Sinitta to stop living in the past, to accept they are in love and find her own man.”
The 53-year-old star dated Sinitta after she became his and Fanfare Record’s first artist signing in the ‘80s. They have remained close friends ever since, even after their relationship ended, but Simon is now putting Lauren first and is said to be thinking about living in the US.
“Simon’s friends have told him Sinitta’s outburst was in part caused because she was devastated after hearing reports he was going to set up a home with Lauren in New York,” the source added. “She doesn’t want to close their close relationship. Simon doesn’t like to see Lauren upset and he’s told Sinitta she needs to respect the mother of his child. He just wants them to get on because he doesn’t ever want to have to cut ties with Sinitta.”
