The contractor who built the Serdang Hospital is being investigated for the shoddy workmanship which led to the collapse of the maternity ward ceiling early today.
Works Minister Datuk Fadillah Yusof said he is waiting for a report from his team of experts.
“I also have a lot of questions on this incident,” he told reporters at the parliament lobby.
The Serdang Hospital has been plagued by a host of problems since it was opened in December 2005.
In 2011, the ceiling at the hospital’s main lobby collapsed.
In August last year, three nurses and a female medical officer at the Emergency Department were injured after when 15 ceiling pieces measuring 2 ft x 2 ft each collapsed.
On the collapse of the roof of the Kampung Tebauk Mosque in Bukit Tunggal, Terengganu, Fadillah said the building was under the purview of the state government.
“We can only provide technical expertise to ascertain the cause of the collapse,” he said.
