Booklets linking DAP to the May 13 race riots were distributed in the Labis constituency in Johor during the 13th general election, the Bersih People’s Tribunal heard.
DAP candidate for the Labis parliamentary seat, S. Ramakrishnan, said he found this in the booklets distributed in village areas in Labis.
One of the panellists, Dr Mavis Puthucheary, then asked Ramakrishnan if he knew who was behind the material.
“I do not know who did this. It does violate the general election rules,” Ramakrishnan replied.
Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Chua Tee Yong won the Labis parliamentary, defeating Ramakrishnan with a razor-thin margin of 353 votes. – September 22, 2013.
