Douglas and CZ-J’s ‘age gap worries’ - ( M4L4YS14 )

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones’ age difference reportedly affected the couple.

Hollywood veteran Michael, 68, bagged a wife 25 years his junior in the shape of stunning starlet Catherine.

The pair recently admitted they are “on a break” and the difference in age is said to have played a part in their marriage troubles.

“Pals say the older Michael gets, the more obvious the age gap is. Catherine wants to socialise and jet off on holidays but, nearing 70, Michael is more content with being at home,” a source told Britain’s Closer magazine.

“She told pals she was feeling as if she’d lost her freedom,”

The pair were thought to have one of the most solid marriages in Hollywood, getting hitched in 2000.

Numerous rumours have surfaced blaming different causes for their separation.

Michael’s confession that sexually-transmitted disease HPV may have caused his throat cancer, as well as both sides’ health problems, have been viewed as possible reasons for the split.

Michael isn’t ready to call time on his marriage though, and insists the couple are only “on a break.”

He told German newspaper Bild he wanted his nuptials to last forever.

“Look at my hand! I’m wearing my wedding ring. My wife and I are on a break. Many couples do that. But I hope that our marriage will last very, very long.”

The couple have two children together, Dylan, 13, and ten-year-old Carys.
