24 Sep – Legendary pictures and Atlas Entertainment are reported to be in the process of casting for their live-action adaptation of popular massive multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) “World Of Warcraft” that will be directed by Duncan Jones.
According to Deadline, Paula Patton and Colin Farrell are in negotiations for the lead roles, with Patton in firm negotiations and Farrell still thinking over the offer. Production for the film written by Charles Leavitt is expected to start in January, but very short visual teaser for the film was introduced by Jones at San Diego Comic-Con 2013.
The MMORPG “World Of Warcraft” takes place in a medieval-like world full of mythical creature such as orcs, dragons and elves which players could take on. Jones is an English film director best known for directing the award-winning science fiction films “Moon” (2009) and “Source Code” (2011), so there is a possibility that it will be more than a “Lord Of The Rings” copy.
Meanwhile, Patton is set to play the lead in Fox Searchlight film “Baggage Claim” after recently appearing in “2 Guns” while Farrell will appear in Disney’s “Saving Mr. Banks” late this year alongside Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson. He is also set to appear in Akiva Goldsman’s adaptation of Mark Helprin’s novel “Winter’s Tale”, set to release next early year.
